ONDESE Safaris®

was founded in 1993 by its Namibian owner Friedrich Nauhaus as a Safari Operator and Mendes Vinte joined the business in 2018. We plan diverse, exciting, exclusive and always tailor-made Self-Drive Safaris (designing itineraries, booking car rental, accommodation and activities), and we organise Photo-Safaris - including Fly-In Safaris - with experienced and specialised guides, all tailored to your individual needs. Professional travel consulting will make travelling our region a pleasure!

ONDESE Safaris® functions as a booking office for Lodges, Guest Farms, City Tours, Balloon flights, Canoeing, Wild-Water Rafting, Rail Safaris, Bird-watching Trips and Horse-Riding.

From Namibia we organise safaris to tourist attractions locally as well as in Botswana, to the Victoria Falls, South Africa and eSwatini and combine safaris to these countries.

We shall also book only accommodation or rent a vehicle for you.

Each accommodation establishment within conservancies which you book through us, guarantees and builds new jobs and protects and supports the local communities, animals and nature effectively.

We do not organise any scheduled tours, where strangers share the same vehicle, neither do we book camp-sites nor do we arrange camping safaris.

The owners 

Friedrich W. Nauhaus

was born in 1963 in Gobabis, middle Kalahari, Namibia. He grew up on his parents' farm in the Omaheke Region, went to school in Windhoek and studied social sciences at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa. After a short career as a radio announcer/producer and in the diplomatic service, he found his passion in the tourism industry and founded his own company ONDESE Safaris® in June 1993. He is the owner, manager and the senior guide of his business since with the focus on history, birding, fauna and flora.

Mendes P. Vinte 

was born in 1984 in Kayengona, northern Kalahari, Namibia. He grew up in the traditional village on the Okavango river, went to school in Rundu and studied natural sciences at the Namibia University of Science and Technology in Windhoek. He worked in the tourism sector, became a ranger and scientist for landscape biodiversity conservation, transfrontier conservation and community development projects for the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism and then advanced as project manager for community-based natural resources management. He joined ONDESE Safaris® as a business partner in 2018.
